What is this?

The Schulte Table was created by German psychiatrist and psychotherapist Walter Schulte as a psycho-diagnostic tool to investigate attention properties and brain reaction. It typically consists of a grid (usually 5x5) with randomly placed numbers or letters. Different variations exist with varying dimensions, colored cells, and values, evolving into a popular technique for speed reading practice.

Switching attention and concentration test

A noteworthy feature includes the Gorbov-Schulte tables. This test evaluates attention switching speed and aids in assessing suitability for professions requiring heightened concentration and swift responses, such as air traffic controllers or train operators. The task involves alternating between numbers, moving from black in ascending order to red in descending order: 1 black, 24 red, 2 black, 23 red, and so on. This exercise can also serve as a focus-training tool.

Basic speed reading exercise

<li>Place the classic Schulte table (5x5) at your typical reading distance.</li>
<li>Fix your gaze on the center of the grid.</li>
<li>Using your peripheral vision without shifting your focus from the center, locate each number in the specified order.</li>
</ul>

It is recommended to limit training sessions to around 10 per day.
